Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Routr ("the app") is a tool for designing and sharing flag football plays. This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The app is built and operated by Ian Kiprotich ("we," "us").
This policy is written to be plain and short because the app is plain and short. There are no user accounts, no third-party servers under our control, and no advertising.
What the app stores on your device
When you use Routr, the app stores the plays, folders, and settings you create directly on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage (SwiftData). This includes:
- Folders and play names you create.
- Player positions, routes, formations, and notes you draw or type.
- Your app preferences (such as theme choice and snap-to-yard-lines setting).
This data stays on your device. We do not have access to it.
iCloud sync (when enabled)
A future version of the app may offer iCloud sync so your plays appear on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID. If iCloud sync is enabled, your data is stored in your own private iCloud database, managed by Apple's CloudKit service. We do not have access to data stored in your private iCloud database. Apple's privacy policy governs how iCloud handles your data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Sharing plays
The app lets you share an image of a play through your device's standard share sheet (for example, via Messages, Mail, or AirDrop). When you share a play, you choose where it goes. The image contains only what you drew — the play itself. The app does not transmit shared content to us or to any third party.
Analytics and crash reports
To understand how the app is used and to fix bugs, future versions of the app may collect:
- Anonymous usage analytics through TelemetryDeck. This includes events like "app opened," "play created," or "play shared," along with general device information (device model, iOS version, app version). It does not include the content of your plays, your name, your email, or any identifier that links analytics to you personally. TelemetryDeck's privacy practices: telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
- Crash and performance reports through Apple's MetricKit framework. These are collected by Apple and shared with us only if you have opted in to "Share With App Developers" in your iOS Settings. The reports describe what went wrong technically and do not include the content of your plays.
If you'd rather not share any analytics or diagnostics, you can:
- Disable analytics in the app's Settings (when this option is added).
- Turn off "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Purchases
If you choose to purchase Routr Pro (a future, optional one-time purchase), the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a confirmation that a purchase occurred but do not receive your payment information, name, or email. Apple's purchase data handling is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Email you send to us
If you contact us using the "Send Feedback" option in the app or by emailing ikiprotichian@gmail.com, we receive whatever you write, your email address, and any device information your email client includes. We use this only to respond to your message and improve the app. We do not add you to mailing lists and do not share your email with anyone else.
Children
Routr is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not require an account, does not have social features, and does not collect personal information by design.
Your choices and rights
Because your data is stored on your own device (and optionally in your own iCloud), you have direct control over it:
- Delete your data: Delete folders or plays inside the app, or delete the app itself to remove all locally stored data.
- iCloud data: Manage iCloud storage in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Routr.
- Analytics opt-out: Use the Settings options described above.
If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data rights (such as the EU under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you have the right to request information about, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Given that we do not maintain user accounts or a server-side database of users, in practice we typically hold no personal data beyond emails you have sent us. To make a request, email ikiprotichian@gmail.com.
Security
Data on your device is protected by iOS device security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). iCloud-synced data is protected by Apple's iCloud security. We do not maintain our own servers that store your data, which means there is no central database for an attacker to compromise.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change and a notice will appear in the app's Settings. Significant changes will be announced before they take effect.
